Wills & Estates
We have an extensive estate, probate and wills practice.
Wills
Everyone regardless of age, marital status and financial status should have a Will. Proper Will planning involves not only making necessary directions for the disposition of your estate but also arranging your affairs to minimize the cost of probate and administration through joint ownership and similar arrangements. Wills planning becomes more difficult in special situations, such as blended families and second marriages, and we can provide you with recommendations for the best way to address those more complex issues.
Powers of Attorney
Similarly, everyone should have a Power of Attorney. A Power of Attorney can be used to ensure that someone has authority to handle your business and possibly also your personal affairs in the event you are severely disabled through illness or injury. We will assist you in identifying the options available to you.
Health Care Directives
Many people want to express their wishes for medical care in the event that they should become completely incapacitated. This can be done with a Health Care Directive, often commonly referred to as a Living Will. A Health Care Directive can, among other things, relieve family members of the burden of making the very difficult decisions that arise in these unfortunate circumstances.
Probate & Administration
We provide our assistance to families upon the death of loved ones in all matters related to probate and administration. We assist families in determining if and when probate is required, finalizing all estate matters including income tax issues, and helping the executors ensure that the estate is settled according to wishes of their family members.
